Tirunelveli Special Nellai Sodhi - Coconut milk vegetable curry - Traditional Tamilnadu Regional Recipe

Ingredients for making Nellai Sodhi

Onion - 1
Carrots - 2
Beans - 5
Drumstick - 1
Potato - 1
Brinjal - 2
knol khol - 1
Green peas - 1/2 cup
Moong dal - 2 tbsp
Green chilly - 3
Garlic cloves - 2
Cumin - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Thick Coconut milk - 1 cup
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad dal - 1tsp.
Coconut oil - 2 tsp.

Method for making Nellai Sodhi

1. Cook the moong dal by adding a pinch of turmeric and required amount of water and set aside.

2. Heat oil in a kadai add the mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Then fry the chopped onions. When the onions turn transparent add the chopped veggies, turmeric powder and the required amount of salt and cook till the vegetables become soft by adding little water.

3. Grind the green chillies, garlic and cumin in a mixer.

4. Add the ground mixture and the cooked moong dal and allow to boil.

5. Next add the Thick coconut milk and stir well allow for a boil and garnish with coriander leaves.

Now the spicy Nellai Sodhi is ready to be served with white rice and pappad. Also goes well with Appam and idiappam.
