Araikeerai Puli Masiyal - Puli keerai - Traditional Keerai in Grandmother's cooking Style

Araikeerai Puli Masiyal is one of the traditional dishes which has got lots of health benefits. Araikeerai is good for growing children and also for adults. Good for pregnant and lactating mothers as it is rich in minerals suach as Iron, Magnesium, Potassium , Calcium and Phosphorous. It is also rich in Protein and Dietary fiber,  Araikeerai masiyal is easy to make and is served with white rice.

Ingredients for making Araikeerai Puli Masiyal

Araikeerai- 1 bunch
Tamarind - Small lemon size
Green Chilli - 2
Onions - 1
Tomato - 1
salt as required

For tempering:-
Thalipu Vengaya Vadagam - 1 tbsp.
Mustard seed - 1tsp
Oil - 1tsp

Method for making Araikeerai Puli Masiyal

1. Separate the araikeerai from the stem and wash and clean with water.

2. Pressure cook the keerai with all the ingredients for 1 whistle.

3. Mash the cooked keerai well with the mattu or wooden ladle. You can use the Manchatti or the mixer for grinding the keerai.

4. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and vadagam and pour this to the keerai.


Now serve the araikeerai puli masiyal with white rice and Murungakkai Kathirikkai poriyal.
