Chettinad Tomato Kurma - Easy to make Kurma - Tiffin Sidedish Recipes

Tomato kuruma is one of the easy to make simple kuruma suitable for all Tiffin items. It is the best sidedish for appam, idli, dosa and even chappathi. Try this Tomato Kuruma and enjoy with your family.

Ingredients for making Tomato kurma

Chopped tomatoes - 1 cup
Chopped small onions - 1 cup
Cinnamon stick - 1
Cloves - 2
Saunf - 1 tsp.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Khus khus - 2tsp.
Grated coconut - 5 tbsp.
A sprig of curry leaves
Green chillies - 2
Ginger -  1/2 inch
Garlic pods - 4
Cashews - 4
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp.
Coriander powder - 2 tsp.
Oil and salt as required.

Method for making Tomato Kurma

1. Soak khus khus and cashews in warm water for 10 minutes and grind this along with coconut, green chillies, garlic, ginger to a fine paste.

2. Heat oil in a kadai add the mustard seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves and saunf. Add the onions and saute till transparent followed by the tomatoes.

3. Add the required water, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt and allow to boil.

4. Next add the ground paste and curry leaves and allow this to boil till the raw smell disappears.

Tomato Kurma is ready to be served with Appam.
