Bread Channa Combo Bhurji - Diabetic Breakfast Recipes - Low Calorie Diet for weight loss

Bread Bhurji is one of the healthy low calorie Diabetic Recipe which tastes yummy and gives you a feeling of fillness. Here we have used Brown bread which is a good alternative to white bread.  It is a good source of fiber and helps to control the blood sugar level. Chickpeas is rich in protein and is also good for diabetic. This is a very good breakfast recipe suitable for people with diabetes and also for those who want to lose their weight.

Ingredients for making Bread Bhurji
Brown Bread cut into cubes  - 10 nos.
Curd - 1 cup
A pinch of  turmeric powder
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
2 green chilli
A sprig of curry leaves
Grated ginger - 1 tsp.
Finely chopped onions - 1 cup
Tomatoes - 1
Boiled Channa/ Chickpeas  - 1 cup
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp.
2 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Chopped corriander leaves for garnishing

Method for making Bread Bhurji
1. Take a mixing bowl and mix the curds, turmeric powder and salt with 2 tablespoons of water.

2. Soak the bread cubes in the curd mixture.

3. Heat oil in a kadai and the cumin seeds, when they are ready to crackle add the green chillies, curry leaves, onions, tomato, chilli powder and ginger and saute for a few seconds.

4. Add the bread mixture and channa dal and saute in a medium flame till the bread becomes light brown in color.

5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Bread Bhurji is ready for breakfast. When serving to kids you can add boiled potatoes along with the chick peas and replace white bread instead of brown bread.
