Chettinad Vazhakkai varuval / Raw Banana Fry - Spicy Vazhakkai Roast - Raw Banana Curry for Lunch

Ingredients for making Vazhakkai varuval
Raw banana - 1 no
Onions - 1
Saunf - 1tsp.
Chilly powder - 2 tsp.
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
Pepper - 1tsp.
Garlic - 3 to 4 cloves.
2 sprigs of Curry leaves - few
Salt to taste
Oil as required.

Method for making Vazhakkai varuval
1. Peel the skin of the raw banana, cut into thin slices and soak it in water.

2. Grind the onions, curry leaves, garlic and pepper in a mixie to a smooth masala paste.

3. Now cook the raw banana slices in water till it becomes soft. Do not overcook or else it gets mashed.

4. Heat oil in a kadai add the saunf and curry leaves, now add the ground masala and then the turmeric powder, salt and chilly powder. Add oil if required.




5. Next add the cooked vazhakkai slices, mix well and cook in a low flame by adding oil to the sides till it becomes crisper.

6. This may take atleast 15 to 20 minutes to become crispy.
