Akki Roti / Arisi Adai - Healthy Karnataka Breakfast Recipe

Akki roti is one of the healthy tiffin recipe of Karnataka. This is made using rice flour and can be served as breakfast or evening snack item. This dish is served in all the hotels in Coorg, one of the beautiful hill stations. Read the article to know the how to prepare akki roti.


Akki Roti

Ingredients for making Akki Roti

Rice flour - 1 cup
Onion - 1 cup finely chopped
green chilli- 1 finely chopped
A bunch of coriander leaves
salt as required
cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Pepper - 1/4 tsp.
Fresh grated coconut - 2 tbsps
Water for mixing the dough
Oil as required

Method for preparing Akki Roti

1. Take a big bowl and mix the rice flour with all the above ingredients, sprinkle water as and when required to make a dough. Knead the dough as you for chappati.

2. Divide this dough into small balls as required.

3.  Add little oil on banana leaf and place the dough and spread it or pat with your hand into a round shape in the form of chappati.

4. Heat dosa tawa, add oil and then place the roti turn when one side is cooked. Cook the other side to get a golden brown color. You can even close the roti with a lid.

Now the akki roti is ready to be served with Garlic chutney / Groundnut chutney.
