Ingredients for making Karthigai deepam special Appam
Maida – 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 1 cup
Jaggery – 1/2 cup
Coconut pieces – 2
tbsp (optional)
Cashews – 10nos.
Cardamom – 3 pods
Oil for frying
Method of Preparation of Tamilnadu sweet recipe Appam
1. Take a heavy bottomed pan and add the finely powdered
jaggery along with water . Heat this on
a medium flame, stir well till the jaggery melts.
2. Now to the above mixture add the rice flour, maida and powdered cardamom, you can add water if the mixture is thick. Mix well and it should be like thick dosa batter .
3. Allow this to stand for an hour and then add the coconut pieces, cashews and mix well.
4. Heat oil in a kadai in medium flame and pour this in a ladle slowly. Turn on and cook till golden brown.
Now the Sweet traditional Appam is ready to be served.
